It goes through logs like a knife through butter. I’m very impressed. It is extremely well designed and easy to use. Both hands necessary to operate controls. I’m using this on a 65cm. high bench, that seems to be ideal for my hieght. The importance of slackening the air bleed screw before use might benifit from some sort of additional highlighting on the machine itself since not everyone (it seems) reads instructions and it could certainly be forgotten if the machine is used without instructions after transport. (For example if it was ever to be lent to another user.) I have decided not to assemble or use the guard. Apparantly it is necessary as a workplace safety issue and in my domestic environment where I have limited space for storage, when not in use; it really would be an additional complication. Be sure to wear safety glasses and face protection instead though, since some logs can break appart quite explosively! I chose this 450mm model because large logs are cheaper to buy than pre-cut smaller logs AND I find the longer logs easier to wheelbarrow (handle) and will stack vertically and store more tidily in a confined floor area. This is a useful power tool and I am very pleased with this purchase.
